Diluted ionic liquid electrolytes are promising candidates in next-generation batteries enabling the implementation of lithium metal anodes. The diluent should fully mix with while not interacting Li ions to preserve character, which is beneficial for Li-metal electrode stability. We report on influence a hydrofluoroether (HFE) ion dynamics and nanostructure an electrolyte. show that miscible solvation structure affected by presence HFE. increase conductivity addition directly related decrease viscosity faster all species. However, relative mobility considerably larger cation as result preferred interaction On microscopic scale, more complex local non-Gaussian diffusive found, than what expected from self-diffusion coefficient. change HFE macro- length scales correlates well, underlines connection between motions probed different time scales.
